The invention relates to an applicator for inserting a web inside a vaginal or rectal cavity of a human or animal, comprising a first elongated member (1), a second elongated member (2) and first retaining means for retaining the first (1) and the second elongated member (2) in a first position in which the two elongated members (1, 2) are releasably fixed one along the other. The applicator further comprises connecting means (3), for connecting a proximity of a first end (E1) of the first elongated member (1) to a proximity of a first end (E2) of the second elongated member (2), the connecting means (3) allowing the two elongated members (1, 2) to be mobile one in respect to the other between said first and second positions.
