Disclosed are methods and apparatus for local delivery of a water insoluble therapeutic agent to normal or affected body lumen tissue. An expandable structure of a disposable medical device, such as a balloon of a balloon catheter, is coated with an amphipathic polymer or copolymer having a substantially water insoluble therapeutic agent dispersed therein, in embodiments a non-durable coating comprising polyethylene glycol do. In some embodiments, the coating may also include iodine.
