PURPOSE: An apparatus for treating food waste is provided to obtain composts and liquid fertilizer and to treat food waste by preparing earthworms which remove harmful materials such as heavy metals. CONSTITUTION: An apparatus for treating food waste includes a receiving container, a cover(200), first vermicast(112), a mesh(115), second vermicast(122), a combining cylinder(130), and a circular cap(140). The receiving container is composed of an upper receiving container(110) and a lower receiving container(120). Both sides of the upper receiving container are opened, and food waste is introduced into the upper receiving container. A plurality of legs(121) supports the lower receiving container from the ground. The upper side of the lower receiving container is opened to be combined with the lower side of the upper receiving container. The cover is combined with the upper side of the upper receiving container. The first vermicast is arranged in the upper receiving container, and earthworms are grown in the first vermicast. The mesh is arranged at the lower side of the lower receiving container.
