Pharmaceutical composition comprising pantoprazole as the active ingredient. The pantoprazole is present in the form of particles having an average particle size within the range of 60 ¼m to 250 ¼m. Pantoprazole having an average particle size within the range of 60 ¼m to 250 ¼m is prepared by a process comprising the steps of wetting pantoprazole with water having a pH of 10 to 12 in a high shear mixer, passing the wet pantoprazole through a sieve having a mesh size of 0.8 to 2 mm, and drying the mass in a fluid bed dryer.
