An applicator device (1) for topically applying liquid to an animal, such as insecticidal oil to animals such as horses and cattle. The applicator device (1) includes a replaceable container (2) containing the liquid of interest, a liquid delivery system (3) and an applicator (4) for applying the liquid to the animal by way of rubbing or brushing against a body of the animal. The liquid delivery system (3) has control valves and flow regulators for controlling or regulating the flow of liquid to the applicator (4).
