1. A method of treating acne in an individual in need of treatment, comprising orally administering to the individual once a day a pharmaceutical composition comprising about 40 mg of doxycycline or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof, the treatment of the individual lasting about 16 weeks； and wherein the pharmaceutical composition contains about 30 mg of doxycycline in a portion of immediate release and about 10 mg of doxycycline in a portion of delayed release. The method of claim 1, wherein the pharmaceutical composition is in tablet form. The method of claim 1, wherein the pharmaceutical composition is in capsule form. The method according to claim 1, wherein the pharmaceutical composition containing about 40 mg of doxycycline or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof, achieves the same or better efficacy than treatment with 100 mg of doxycycline or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof. The method of claim 1, wherein the treatment reduces the number of inflammatory lesions in an individual. The method of claim 1, wherein treatment reduces the number of non-inflammatory lesions in an individual. The method of claim 1, wherein the treatment increases the success rate.1.
