Provided is a duckweed plant or duckweed plant cell or nodule that expresses a recombinant glycoprotein having a substantially homogeneous N-glycosylation profile, wherein at least 90% of the N-glycan species present in the profile are G0 glycans, and wherein said duckweed plant, plant cell, or nodule comprises at least one recombinant nucleotide construct that provides for inhibition of expression of alpha-1,3-fucosyltransferase (FucT) and beta-1,2-xylosyltransferase (Xy1T) in said duckweed plant, plant cell, or nodule by means of sense or antisense suppression to the mRNAs of the genes. The modified plants can be used to produce monoclonal antibodies with an altered N-glycosylation profile.
