An imaging system (300) includes a rotating gantry (302) configured to rotate about an examination region (306) about a z-axis (308), a subject support (322), including a tabletop (324) configured to horizontally translate along the z-axis into and out of the examination region, a communications network (342) shared by the rotating gantry and the subject support, and a master motion controller (344) configured to control both rotational motion of the rotating gantry and translational motion of the tabletop over the communications network.
