Disclosed are: a polymerizable composition which is capable of easily providing an ophthalmic device or a medical device with antibacterial properties at relatively low cost； and an antibacterial composition which is obtained by polymerizing the polymerizable composition.Specifically disclosed is a polymerizable composition for ophthalmic or medical use, which contains an ε-polylysine having a (meth)acryloyl group. It is preferable for the polymerizable composition that the content of the ε-polylysine having a (meth)acryloyl group is about 0.1-99% by weight based on the total amount of the composition. Also specifically disclosed are: a coating agent for ophthalmic or medical use, which contains the polymerizable composition； an antibacterial composition for ophthalmic or medical use, which is obtained by polymerizing the polymerizable composition； an ophthalmic device or a medical device which contains the antibacterial composition； and a contact lens which contains the antibacterial composition.
