PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To accurately detect a reduction in arousal of a driver.SOLUTION: Based on an image showing the face of a driver driving a vehicle, angles of convergence defined by the sight lines of both eyes of the driver are sequentially calculated (a step S206). Then, based on the standard deviation of the calculated angles of convergence, determination is made as to whether arousal of the driver driving the vehicle is reduced (a step S208).
