An earplug device 10 comprising an ear plug 11 with an ear plug tube 12 extending through the ear plug 11 from a first side 15 of the ear to a second side 16 of the ear plug 11, a pressure adjustment system 14 and a connection line 13 which connects an outlet of the pressure adjustment system 14 with the ear plug tube 12 at the first side 15 of the ear plug 11. The ear plug tube 12 may be formed as a cavity or conduit extending through the ear plug tube. The connection line may be integrally formed with the conduit to form a single line. The pressure adjustment system 14 may be a gas source for providing pressurized air such as a gas cartridge or a blower. The pressure adjustment system 14 may also have pressure sensor(s) for measuring the ambient pressure /pressure in the ear-plug tube. It may further have a pressure controller for controlling ear plug tube pressure depending on the ambient pressure measured and it may have a control panel 17. The control panel will preferably be adapted to receive an operator’s instruction to decrease or increase the pressure in the earplug tube.
