This invention relates to biocompatible and resorbable melt derived glasscomposition comprising: SiO2 60-70weight-%, Na2O 5-20 weight-%, CaO 5- 25 weight-%, MgO 0-10 weight %, P2O5 0.5-3.0 weight-%, B2O3 0-15 weight-%, AI2O30-5 weight-%, and comprising less than 0.05 weight-% potassium. This inventionalso relates to biocompatible and resorbableglass fibres manufactured from the glass compositions of the invention. Thisinvention further relates to medical devices comprisingfibres of the invention. This invention still further relates to use of thecompositions of the invention for the manufacture ofglass fibre and use of the fibres of the invention for the manufacture ofmedical devices.
