Disclosed are methods and devices for managing resources of a communication device configured to process and communicate medical data in addition to other data. The system and device can implement a method that includes determining whether to switch to a medical mode based on at least one signal. In response to deciding to switch to medical mode, the communication device may be switched to medical mode. Resource states associated with multiple resources used by the communication device may be compared against the medical data importance associated with the medical data managed by the communication device. The method can include assigning one of a plurality of resources on a sliding priority scale.
