There is described a wearable respiration sensor generally having astretchable textilesubstrate to be worn around a user's torso; and a dipole antenna having twoflexibleconductive elements extending in opposite directions from a center, relativeto a dipoleaxis, and being secured to the stretchable textile substrate, each of the twoflexibleconductive elements having a proximate end near the center, a distal end awayfrom thecenter, and a curved portion curving away from and back towards the dipoleaxis betweenthe proximate end and the distal end, the two flexible conductive elementsbeing in a pointreflection symmetry relative to one another relative to said center in amanner that, whenthe stretchable textile substrate is stretched along the dipole axis, thecurved portions ofthe two flexible conductive elements are flattened and the distal ends aremoved awayfrom one another.
