PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a medical basket type treatment instrument capable of safely releasing incarceration even if the instrument is incarcerated, and collecting a distal end chip together with a basket wire with small burdens on the body of a patient.SOLUTION: The medical basket type treatment instrument 2 includes: an operation wire 24 disposed inside a tubular sheath 4 a basket part 22 connected to a distal end of the operation wire, expandable/contractible by moving the operation wire along the longitudinal direction within the sheath to be inserted into/taken out of the distal end of the sheath and the distal end chip 50 with a plurality of basket wires 22a-22f which constitute the basket part and whose distal ends are bundled. The distal end chip 50 has a first weak portion 54 whose strength is relatively weak to the other portion of the distal end chip.
