PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To effectively avoid occurrence of blocking in a production process for an optical film such as a patterned retardation film, even when a clear antireflective surface material is applied to obtain an antireflection effect.SOLUTION: A production method of an optical film includes: an antireflective layer forming step SP2-1 where a transparent substrate in a long film state is drawn from a roll and a surface material is applied to form an antireflective layer in one surface side of the transparent substrate; a protective film disposing step SP2-2 where a protective film is disposed on the antireflective layer; an alignment layer forming step SP3 where an alignment layer is formed in the other surface side of the transparent substrate opposite to the side where the protective film is disposed in the protective film disposing step SP2-2; and a retardation layer forming step SP4 where a retardation layer is formed on the alignment layer.
