PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To further improve safety to surrounding environment in an isolator to handle sterilization gas.

SOLUTION: While circulating gas in the work space of the isolator via a circulating filter using a first circulation flow passage, sterilization gas is supplied into the work space to carry out sterilization treatment of the work space. After the lapse of a predetermined time, the supply of the sterilization gas is stopped and the first circulation flow passage is switched to a second circulation flow passage to pass the gas through a detoxification device arranged in the second circulation flow passage to detoxify the sterilization gas included in the circulated gas to make the work space of the isolator a high level sterilized environment.
