PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain absorption characteristics which are stable to any compsns. of urine and less change with lapse of time in addition to urine resistance by specifying an absorption magnification under non-pressurization to a specific value or above and specifying an absorption magnification under static deterioration pressurization to a specific value or above as well. SOLUTION: This absorbent used for, for example, paper diapers, etc., is so formed that the value of the absorption magnification under non-pressurization attains >=30 (g/g) and that the value of the absorption magnification under static deterioration pressurization attains >=20 (g/g). The absorption magnification under static deterioration pressurization is the absorption magnification of the absorbent determined from the swollen gel weight after the absorbent swollen with a physiologic saline contg. 0.005 wt.% L-ascorbic acid to 15 (g/g) is formed and is rested for six hours in this state, the load of 50 g/cm2 is placed thereon and further the physiologiocal salt water is absorbed therein for one hour. As a result, the absorbent is adequately used even for the paper diapers of an increasing higher resin concn. and decreasing use ratio of fiber base materials accompanied with a decrease in the thickness of the paper diapers. The leakage at the time of actual use may be reduced as well.
