The present invention addresses the problems of reducing the used amount of a hot-melt adhesive for joining, achieving a decrease in product costs by dispensing with an elastic member (thread-like rubber), and enhancing function as tunnel spaces (pleats (folds)) when joining two sheets (a non-stretchable sheet of a first substrate and a stretchable sheet of a second substrate). A method for producing a composite stretchable member comprises: a transfer step (I) for applying a thin film hot-melt adhesive (HM) to the rear surface of the non-stretchable sheet of the first substrate (A) using a pattern distribution from the surfaces of protrusions (12) of a pattern roll (1) and a bonding step (II) for cladding the first substrate and the stretchable sheet of the second substrate (B), said first substrate having had the thin film hot-melt adhesive applied to the rear surface thereof by the above-mentioned process, and said second substrate being fed at a running speed that is 1/2 or less than that of the first substrate, wherein the distribution of adhesion positions and the cross-sectional shape of the tunnel spaces are set by the pattern distribution from the surfaces of the protrusions of the pattern roll by configuring a stretchable nonwoven fabric sheet to the natural length thereof.
