A device for supplying gas into water is disclosed. The device has a water inlet arrangement with a pipe (4) having a plurality of openings (6) and a gas dissolver (2) situated within the inlet of the pipe. A Venturi type gas dissolver is preferred. A cylindrical element (8) surrounds the pipe having a plurality of openings (10) and/or a fixed or adjustable shield. The openings in the pipe discharge water to create turbulence thereby preventing gas bubbles in the water flow from combining to form larger gas bubbles.
