An endoscope system comprising an endoscope device and means for directing a fluid adjacent a tip of the endoscope device, wherein said fluid directing means comprises a fluid container for containing said fluid, the container comprising an inlet 31 and an outlet 70, and characterised in that the system further comprises separating means 7 (e.g. filter) for separating liquid or solid particles from gas entering the container through said inlet 31. The inlet 31, outlet 70 and separating means 7 may all be present in a water bottle cap 1 for an endoscope system.
