PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for raising propagule generating as leaf side buds of Japanese yam, preventing insect affection without taking time to perform, and expanding the propagule as it is to a big mass state.SOLUTION: The method for raising the propagule includes covering, with a covering material 6 made of a sheet with light resistance, the lower part of a stem 3 of a height b shorter than a height (a) of the upper part of the stem 3, together with leaves 4, in a period when flowers blooming on Japanese yam planted on an outside cultivated land and grown wither, and tightening the upper end part and lower end part of the sheet with a string material 7 so as to shade the propagule 5, suppressing the contact of the propagule 5 with open air followed by making the propagule pass a summer season, and removing the covering material 6 at the beginning of autumn.COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT【課題】自然薯類の葉の脇芽として発生するむかごを育成するもので、実施に手間を掛けず害虫被害を防止してむかごをそのまま大塊状に肥大化させる。【解決手段】屋外の作地に植付けられて生育した自然薯に開花した花が枯れる頃に、茎3の上方部分の背丈aよりも短い背丈bの茎3の下方部分を葉4とともに遮光性を有するシートからなる被覆材6で被覆しシートの上端部と下端部とを紐材7で絞込むことによって、むかご5を遮光しむかご5の外気との接触を抑制して夏期を経過させ、秋口に被覆材6を除去する。【選択図】 図1
