[Problem] To provide an aqueous coating composition, an air cleaning mechanism, and an air cleaning method such that it is possible to form a coating having excellent quality and achieve satisfactory air cleaning for an indoor space. [Solution] An aqueous coating composition comprising, in weight percentage based upon the total amount of the coating composition, 29.07% of a cationic aqueous acrylic acid ester copolymer emulsion, 29.07% of water, 19.38% of a 1500 mesh charcoal powder (median particle size of 10 μm), 9.69% of a 3000 mesh charcoal powder (median particle size of 5 μm), 4.84% of an aluminum hydroxide, 2.91% of an acrylic polymer, 2.91% of an antiseptic, 1.94% of a urethane-modified polyether, 0.10% of an antifungal agent, and 0.01% of a silicone-based defoaming agent.
