PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an agent or a food or a beverage excellent in effects and capable of effectively preventing lowering of renal functions caused by various factors by daily taking them.
SOLUTION: The agent for preventing and ameliorating renal function disorder comprises a composition obtained from asparagus obtained by finely cutting asparagus with a blender, mixing the finely cut asparagus with water and carrying out heat treatment of the mixture for 1 hr at 100°C in an autoclave, filtering the resultant treated liquid, concentrating the resultant pale-brown extract under reduced pressure and lyophilizing the concentrated extract. In the agent, the composition obtained from the asparagus comprises preferably asparagus to which enriching treatment for enhancing the content of &gamma-aminobutyric acid is applied.
