PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the entire root stock removing device from being damaged by an impact caused by a solid substance in the ground. SOLUTION: The root stock removing device includes a drum member 3 that bites into the ground around the root stock while digging the ground, an elevating drive means for raising and lowering the drum member 3, and a rotary drive means for rotating the drum member 3 in the forward and reverse directions. 7 and a plurality of cutter members 4 which are attached to the lower end portion of the drum member 3 at intervals and cut the side roots of the root stock. The cutter member 4 can tilt with respect to the drum member 3 due to a resistance equal to or higher than a predetermined value of the ground.
