Provided are a single-handed-operation surgical instrument and operation method thereof, the surgical instrument comprising an actuator (300), an intermediate connector (200), and a controller (100). The actuator (300), the intermediate connector (200) and the controller (100) are connected to one another in sequence. The actuator (300) comprises a staple cartridge component (3002), a staple anvil component (3001), and a driving component (3003). The controller (100) comprises a firing trigger mechanism, a firing safety mechanism, and an automatic reset mechanism. The surgical instrument has an automatic-reset function: if the firing safety mechanism is locked, the actuator (300) of the surgical instrument grasps a tissue when a doctor operates a firing trigger (111) when the doctor releases the firing trigger (111), the actuator (300) of the surgical instrument automatically resets and releases the grasped tissue.
