The present invention relates to an anti-obesity composition containing a Rosa laevigata extract as an active ingredient and, more specifically, to a pharmaceutical composition, a heath food, an agent for external application to skin, and a cosmetic composition containing a Rosa laevigata extract as an active ingredient in order to control and treat or alleviate obesity. A differentiation control experiment of the Rosa laevigata extract into fat cells has been performed using a 3T3-L1 cell strain which is a precursor fat cell of a mouse. As a result, the Rosa laevigata extract and fractions thereof exhibit excellent anti-obesity activities.
