To provide an X-ray imaging apparatus and accurately performing measurement ON a distance without malfunction even when the distance between the body surface of a subject and an X-ray tube is automatically measured using an ultrasonic sensor to which an X-ray irradiating part is attached.
SOLUTION: This X-ray imaging apparatus includes a photographing table 1 having an X-ray detector 11 and an X-ray irradiating part 2 having the X-ray tube 21 and an ultrasonic sensor 24. The distance D between the X-ray irradiating part 2 and the photographing table 1 is measured by a potentiometer 27. The ultrasonic sensor 24 for detecting the body surface of the subject is attached to the X-ray irradiating part 2. Among received signals by a receiving part of the ultrasonic sensor 24, the received signal corresponding to a distance closest to the distance between the X-ray irradiating part 2 and the photographing table 1 is recognized as an ultrasonic signal reflected ON the subject.
