PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing water-absorbing resin particles, which have excellent water absorptivity, appropriate particle diameter and narrow particle diameter distribution, and are suitably used for absorptive articles or the like.
SOLUTION: The method for manufacturing water-absorbing resin particles includes reverse phase suspension polymerization of water-soluble ethylenically unsaturated monomers in a petroleum hydrocarbon solvent in the presence of a dispersion stabilizer using a water-soluble radical polymerization initiator, wherein a trehalose fatty acid ester is used as the dispersion stabilizer. The present invention provides a method for manufacturing water-absorptive resin particles having excellent water absorptivity, an appropriate particle diameter and a narrow particle diameter distribution and suitably used for absorptive articles or the like such as sanitary pads, incontinent pads and paper diapers.
