In a preferred embodiment, the transgenic oilseed plants synthesize (poly)3- hydroxybutyrate ("PHB") in the seed. Genes utilized include phaA, phaB, phaC, all of which are known in the art. The genes can be introduced in the plant, plant tissue, or plant cell using conventional plant molecular biology techniques.
