The present invention relates to a lower limb supporting auxiliary device and a method of operating same. The lower limb supporting auxiliary device includes: an upper brace disposed on an upper portion of a lower limb joint to support a lower limb, the upper brace having a detachable structure a lower brace disposed on a lower portion of the lower limb joint to support the lower limb, the lower brace having a detachable structure and a posture position fixing part fixedly connected to at least one side surface of the upper brace and the lower brace when the upper brace and the lower brace are rotated with respect to the lower limb joint, the posture position fixing part including a cylinder and piston which are vertically operated and a linear motor interrupting the operation of the piston to selectively stop the rotation of the braces. As described above, the lower limb supporting auxiliary device according to the present invention may selectively restrict or interrupt the rotation of the lower limb about the lower limb joint through a simple and easy structure according to a wearers selection to easily fix and release a specific posture position.
