An intravascular diagnostic device and method are intervened. In one aspect of the intervening technique, the intravascular diagnostic device includes a monitoring guide wire and a display unit. The monitoring guide wire includes a core wire and a sensor disposed in a distal region of the core wire. The display unit includes a processor and a display screen, and can receive communications from the monitoring guide wire. The display unit is configured to perform calculations using the processor based on the communication received from the monitoring guide wire and is configured to display information on the display screen based on the calculation.
