PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a xanthine oxidase inhibitor derived from food and drink, and a method for producing a composition containing the inhibitor.SOLUTION: A method for producing a composition having xanthine oxidase inhibitory activity comprises a liposoluble organic solvent layer recovery process in which, after hot water extract of roasted coffee beans and liposoluble organic solvent are mixed, only a liposoluble organic solvent layer is recovered as a composition having xanthine oxidase inhibitory activity.
