A coloring composition which contains: a salt compound that is composed of a dye cation and a divalent or higher-valent anion; a solvent that dissolves 1.0% by mass or more of the salt compound at 25°C; and at least one purple coloring agent that is selected from among xanthene dyes, pyrromethene dyes and tetraazaporphyrin dyes. The dye cation has 1-20 triaryl methane dye structures in each molecule.
