To provide an antiseptic microbicide which can exclude or reduction the dose of antiseptic microbicides used so far such as paraben and benzoic acid, and has an excellent antimicrobial potency and a highly safe composition for applying to a human body to which a small amount of a conventional antiseptic microbicide or no microbicide is added.
SOLUTION: The antiseptic microbicide contains a combination of 1,2-pentanediol or 1,2-hexanediol with benzoic acid and a salt thereof.
