PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide compositions for scalp protection which excellently prevent scalp from discoloring or coloring caused by hair treatment, while palliating or preventing the stimulation subjected to the scalp when hair treatment.SOLUTION: A composition for scalp protection for forming on the scalp a protective coat which protects the scalp by application to the scalp before hair treatment, contains 38 to 99.99 mass% of hydrocarbon to the total mass and 0.01 to 21 mass% of hydrophobic silica particles to the total mass. Preferably, the composition for scalp protection has a viscosity at 24°C of 50 to 10,000 mPas.
