PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a porphyrin compound useful as an anti-oxidant that can exhibit high anti-oxidation capability only to the location of high reactive oxygen species (ROS) in a living body, and that is useful as a drug delivery composition.SOLUTION: The porphyrin compound A in figure 1 has a high lipid solubility, and therefore can permeate through blood-brain barrier and cell membrane. Since there are abundance of reactive oxygen species in cell, a sulfide group is oxidized and becomes sulfoxide B having a high antioxidation power. Because the sulfoxide B has a lowered lipid solubility, and stays within the cell, and as a result, the porphyrin compound as an antioxidant stays at the location where there are abundance of ROS and an antioxidation power is needed.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1COPYRIGHT: (C)2016,JPO&INPIT【課題】生体内の活性酸素種(ROS)の高い場所のみに高い抗酸化能を示すことができる抗酸化剤、及びドラッグデリバリー組成物として有用な、ポルフィリン化合物の提供。【解決手段】図1中の、本ポルフィリン化合物Aは高い脂溶性をもつため、血液脳関門や、細胞膜を透過することができる。細胞内は活性酸素種が豊富なため、スルフィド基が酸化され、抗酸化力の高いスルホキシドBとなる。スルホキシドBは脂溶性が低下しているため、細胞内に留まるため、その結果、ROSが豊富で抗酸化力を必要とする場所に、抗酸化剤としての本ポルフィリン化合物が留まることになる。【選択図】図1
