A male surface fastener has a sheet (50) having a main surface (51), and a group (C20) of engagement elements (20) in which the engagement elements (20) are regularly arranged, the engagement element (20) having a pillar (21) that stands on the main surface (51) of the sheet (50) and an engagement head (22) that is expanded along the main surface (51) from the top end of the pillar (21), wherein 0.05 ≦ S2/S1 ≦ 0.15 is satisfied where S1 represents an area of the main surface (51) which corresponds to a region in which the group (C20) of engagement elements (20) is arranged, and S2 represents a sum of areas of the top surfaces of the engagement heads (22) of the engagement elements (20) of the group (C20) of engagement elements (20).
