PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a weeder including weeding means for mechanically weeding spaces between rows and stubble of rice plants, the weeder controlling an operative mechanism of the weeding means to prevent the weeding means from damaging rice stubble at low costs.SOLUTION: A weeder includes: crop stubble determination means which detects plant stubble including rice stubble 5 and a weed while moving in a space between rows along a row 6 in conjunction with a traveling body 1, and based on detection signals outputted from a pair of contact detectors 4a and 4a, determines whether or not the plant stubble corresponding to the detection signals is rice stubble to output the determination result and control means for controlling on/off of an actuated motor of a rotary member 16 (a member having a plurality of weeding claws around a shaft 17) serving as weeding means.
