The gate latching device of this invention is optionally a one piece design,although it could be constructed by interconnecting several individualcomponents. Analley post channel blank is formed in such a manner that it has protrudingslotted tabs forbolting the post bracket to the floor. This feature allows the alley postbracket to be adirect replacement of the conventional post design for updating existingapplications.The formed bracket is also optionally formed from one piece of steel and isprovided withappropriate mounting holes installed. The formed bracket is optionally freefromprotruding tabs that can cause injury to personnel and livestock. A latchsecurity plateactivates automatically when the gate is closed. As soon as the gate is closedit is secure.The latch security plate can be applied in other applications, including wallbrackets,feeder brackets, back to back brackets and other similar applications.
