The method involves surrounding a substrate block (14) of a mesh-shaped network (12) with a mounting section (16), so that a rank segment (17) of the mesh-shaped network extends away from the substrate block. The rank section functions as a support element. The mesh shaped network is placed at a holder in suspended manner. The mesh-shaped network supports one or multiple root balls (21) of a plant (22). Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a method for forming a hedge made up of a plant support; and (2) a plant support with a mesh-shaped network consisting of mesh bands.
