A patient transfer system for transferring a patient to an operating table in a prone position (lying facedown) from a supine position (lying on the back - facing up), and vice versa, is described. Integrated within a portion of the patient transfer system is an apparatus that transforms the surface of a commonly used operating table into a dedicated platform configured to support a patient in a prone position for back surgery or other medical procedures. In one embodiment, the apparatus includes a frame configured to rest on top of the surface of an operating table and support members attached to the frame, configured to support the patient in a prone position. Thus, the apparatus converts commonly used operating tables into a dedicated back surgery. The apparatus eliminates the use of various improvised support structures stuffed underneath the patient to provide support while on the operating table in a prone position.La présente invention concerne un système de transfert de patient destiné à transférer un patient sur une table d’opération dans une position couchée (à plat ventre) à partir d’une position en décubitus dorsal (couchée sur le dos - face vers le haut), et vice versa. Intégré dans une partie dudit système se trouve un appareil qui transforme la surface d’une table d’opération couramment utilisée en une plateforme spécialisée configurée pour soutenir un patient en position couchée pour une chirurgie du dos ou d’autres procédures médicales. Dans un mode de réalisation, l’appareil comprend un cadre configuré pour reposer sur la surface d’une table d’opération et soutenir les membres fixés au cadre, configuré pour soutenir le patient dans une position couchée. Ainsi, l’appareil convertit des tables d’opération couramment utilisées en chirurgie du dos spécialisée.
