PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a tableting machine which can form a tablet having a shape similar to a columnar shape, and a method for manufacturing a tablet.SOLUTION: A tableting machine for manufacturing a tablet of a shape having a lower convex part which projects to one side and an upper convex part which projects to the other side, comprises a mortar having a vertically penetrating hole, a lower pestle which is inserted into the hole from a lower direction, and an upper pestle which is inserted into the hole from an upper direction, and compresses powder by bringing the lower pestle and the upper pestle which are inserted in the hole close, to form a tablet. The lower pestle has: a first pressing face which forms a bottom part of the tablet being part of the lower convex part and including the part projecting furthest to one side； and a second pressing face which forms part other than the bottom part.
