The present invention relates to a molecule binding to soluble tumor necrosis factor receptor (sTNFR) for use in a method for sensitizing a tumor cell in a patient to a treatment with a chemotherapeutic agent, wherein said molecule is immobilized on a solid support that is contacted with a body fluid of said patient. Furthermore, the present invention refers to a method for sensitizing a tumor cell and to a body fluid from which sTNFR has been removed for use in a method for sensitizing a tumor cell in a patient to a treatment with a chemotherapeutic agent.
