The method involves calculating contact lens data, by using a data processor (16), based on refraction data and topographic data obtained by an auto refractometer (14) and a keratometer (12). A contact lens is selected from a database (30) of an opthalmological device (10) based on the calculated contact lens data. The calculated contact lens data ic compared with contact lens data contained in the database. Measured data, the calculated lens data and lens data of the selected contact lens are output using an output apparatus (40). An independent claim is also included for an opthalmological device comprising a keratometer.
