The electrode (100) has a transfer layer (104) covering a metal electrode (102), where the transfer layer is made of a flexible insulating material e.g. polyurethane foam, loaded with electrically conductive carbon microparticles. The metal electrode is formed of a single metal element preformed to conform to the shape of a body part (110) e.g. hand, to be treated.
