PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a hair mascara hardly causing flying about when being used while keeping the excellent volatility, and, more preferably, having good pigment dispersibility, power for covering the hair, feeling, and friction and water resistances relating to the color transfer.SOLUTION: This hair mascara is obtained by formulating at least a pigment, a setting agent and a hydroxypropylmethyl cellulose with a solvent. Preferably, the hydroxypropylmethyl cellulose of 0.1-2 wt.% is formulated therewith, and more preferably the solvent is a mixed liquid of water and ethanol in the mixed weight ratio regulated within the range of (1/19)-(1/1).
