The scaffold is connected to the substrate such that the substrate supports the scaffold. The substrate is configured such that the substrate and scaffold are inserted into the bone tissue containing the cartilage lesion so that the bone tissue containing the cartilage lesion is replaced. The substrate and scaffold are further configured to promote the growth and integration of new bone tissue into the implant after the substrate and scaffold replace bone tissue containing cartilage lesions.
