A massage chair (10) comprises an ottoman (14) which is installed on the front side of a seat part (12) and capable of tilting about a rotating shaft (22) and a lift mechanism (15) which generates a force to rotate the ottoman (14) upward by driving a motor (26) and is so locked to the ottoman (14) that its driving connection with the ottoman can be disconnected. The lift mechanism (15) comprises hooking parts (32, 33) provided between the ottoman (14) and the motor (26), and a coiled spring (34) for restraining the separation of the hooking parts (32, 33) from each other.
