This invention concerns 5,6-substituted pyrimidine derivatives of formula(see formula I)having HIV (Human Immunodeficiency Virus) replication inhibiting propertiesand especiallyhaving an improved ability to inhibit the replication of mutant strains, inparticular of strains thathave become resistant to one or more known NNRTI drugs, which strains arereferred to asdrug or multidrug-resistant HIV strains.
